01/21/1925 - 01/25/2012 Phillip A. Muto of Lower Paxton Twp. passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 25, 2012, four days after his 87th birthday.
He was the widower of Jean Gamble Muto. Phillip was the son of Anthony P. Muto and Geneva Kost Muto. Along with his wife and parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his brother Anthony F. Muto of Winston Salem, NC.
He is survived by his sister Rosanna M. Dulak of Mechanicsburg, his Aunt Ethel Chorpenning of Middletown, and several cousins, four nephews, four nieces, eight great nieces, two great nephews, one great great niece, and one great great nephew.
Phillip was named to the highest ranking civilian position with the Fleet Material Support System at the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot. His service to the Navy came after his military service in the Army during WWII. He served two years in the Pacific. Phillip was awarded the Meritorious Executive Rank by President George W. Bush. Phillip was also awarded the Navy’s highest honorary civilian service citation, an award signed by Navy Secretary W. Graham Claytor Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Geigle Funeral Home 2100 Linglestown Rd. Harrisburg, PA 17110. Viewing will be held from 10 AM until time of services. Burial with full Military Honors will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
