Shirley B. Christ, 78, of Harrisburg passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was the widow of the late John C. Christ and the daughter of the late Kenneth and Dorothy Gagne. She was also predeceased by a brother David Floyd of Londonderry, N.H.
She is survived by her five children, John C. and his wife Debra of Manchester, N.H., Stephen and his wife Peggy of Hummelstown, Deborah J. Siegfried of Iowa, Mark S. and his wife Vicky of Carlisle and Jeffery A. and his wife Sharon of Halifax, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerour nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, a host of friends and her beloved cat, Gracie.
After retirement, Shirley took great pride in taking care of her yard, flower garder and vegetable garden.
In accordance with Shirley's wishes, a service will not be held.

02/21/1939 - 0216/2012 Dorothy E. Shadle 72 of Marysville passed away peacefully Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Harrisburg Hospital with her loving son by her side.
She was a member of Shermansdale Seventh Day Adventist Church. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandson Jacob.
She is survived by her son Patrick E. Shadle of Marysville, her grandson Jacob. R. Shadle of Marysville, 3 brothers Clarence Shadle of Harrisburg, Richard Shadle of Landisburg, and James Shadle of Landisburg, 3 sisters Carrie Wevodau of Summerdale, Barbara Gordy of Carlisle, and Karen Clouser of Summerdale, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 3 PM Monday, February 20, 2012 at Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home 325 N. High St. Duncannon, PA 17020. Visitation will be held from 2 PM until time of services.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Dorothy’s honor may be made to Jacob’s Education Fund P.O. Box 93 Summerdale, PA 17093.

03/10/1919 - 02/17/2012 Melvin L. Michaels, a long time public school teacher and administrator, passed away on February 17, 2012. He was 92 years old.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, he initially taught history and English and coached track before becoming Assistant Principal at Westfield Sr. High School (New Jersey). He also served as principal at Teaneck High School (New Jersey) and Highland Park High School (New Jersey) and was Director of Secondary Education and Assistant Superintendent of Schools at North Penn School District (Pennsylvania). He retired in 1986.
He earned a BA from Montclair State Teachers College, an MA from New York University, and an Ed.D from Teachers’ College, Columbia University. Before he was a teacher, he earned tuition money as a piano player and as a tool and die maker. He was the first member of his family to graduate from high school.
During World War II he served in Military Intelligence with the 76th Infantry Division in Germany. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant.
He met his wife, Winifred, who predeceased him, at Montclair State College. They were married for 62 years.
He was a lifelong music lover and a skilled pianist and a dedicated angler.
He leaves a brother, Herbert Michaels, a sister, Claire Greenberg, both of Florida, two sons, Arthur J Michaels formerly of Harrisburg, and David Seth Michaels, of Spencertown, New York, and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, February 19th, 2012 at 2 pm at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, NJ. Rabbi Akiva Males will be officiating.

04/21/1924 - 02/17/2012 Lillian Elizabeth Ressler, age 87, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Friday February 17, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She is a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 66 years, William O. Ressler. She is also missed by her children William C. Ressler and his wife Sandra of Dillsburg, Richard P. Ressler and his wife Kathleen of Landisville and Carol R. Bricker of Mechanicsburg. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a brother in law Ronald R. Ressler and his wife Susan of AZ.
Funeral services are under the direction of Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home of Harrisburg. A memorial service will be held at her church Wednesday at 1:00 PM. Her interment will take place in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Memorial condolences can be made at www.hetrickbitner.com

10/25/1958 - 02/12/2012 We’re sad to announce the passing of Jeffrey Scott Magid, 53, passed away at the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg on Sunday, February 12th, 2012.
He survived by his wife, Jill Magid, his daughter Samantha Magid and his sister Paula Spitz-Levitas of Harrisburg, Pa.
There will be a private funeral for family only in Philadelphia. If you would like to pay your respects to the family, Shiva will take place at the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg, Wednesday February 15th and Thursday February 16th from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

12/09/1924 - 02/09/2012 Shirley M. Werner, 87, of Lower Paxton Twp., died Thursday in Community General Hospital.
She was retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. and was a member of the former Sixth Street Evangelical United Brethren Church. She was born in Lancaster, PA and attended school in Middletown and Harrisburg, PA. She was a loving mother and enjoyed her special friendships.
She was preceded in her final journey by Gilbert D. Werner, Jr., her husband of 45 years. Surviving are a son Jeff Werner and wife Susie, Tualatin, OR; her grandchildren Diana Niemann and husband Chris with her great granddaughter Brielle, Carlsbad, CA and Heather Preyer and husband Steve, Murrieta, CA; her daughter Pam Werner, Pt. Pleasant, NJ and nephew Larry Dressler, Harrisburg, PA.

09/25/1950 - 02/09/2012 Harvey Richard Roush, Sr., 61, of Newport went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on February 9, 2012.
He was a key holder for Sears Holdings. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Newport Post, the Newport VFW, Newport Loyal Order of Moose and the Newport OWLS.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool and playing BINGO.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca M. Roush, his only son Harvey “Hank” Roush, Jr., daughters Erica, Patty, Harvajean, Mindy, a stepson Paul, his father & stepmother Harry and Grace Roush, two brothers Harry “Butch” Roush, McClellan “Mac” Roush, three sisters Mary Bomberger, Lucina Zeiders, April Fisher, 9 granchildren and a great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Welcomer Roush.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in the Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, with Rev. Glen Young officiating. Viewings will be from 6pm until 8pm on Monday, February 13, 2012 and from 10am until 11am on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in the funeral home.

06/05/1928 - 02/09/2012 Norma Gordon, 83, passed away on February 9th 2012. She was born on June 5th 1928.
Within Lebanon, Norma was known for being a cherished religious school teacher and a member of Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue, Sisterhood, and Hadassah.
Beloved wife of the late Saul Gordon, Norma is survived by her daughters Amy S. Gordon of Rockville MD and Debra L. Gordon of Lebanon PA. She is also survived by her grandson Jared A. Gordon.

10/22/1923 - 02/092012 Teresa Maki, age 88 passed from this life into the glorious presence of Jesus on February 9, 2012. As she rejoices before the Lord, those who loved her grieve the loss and cherish her memory.
Teresa Maki suffered a lot during her life yet that didn’t stop her. She was always a mother and always a wife. Then in her old age she struggled with Alzheimer’s. Yet even that didn’t quench her smile, pleasant disposition and gentle manners. She was admired and respected by everyone who provided her care during her extended illness. Her family will remember her as a kind, courteous, quiet yet strong woman who simply kept going no matter what. Proverbs 31:27-28 describes her best: “She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed.”
Teresa is survived by two daughters, Cindy Maki and Sandy Opel and her husband Pete, two brothers Frank and Ernie Miodus and their wives Joanne and Sandy, two grandchildren, Stacy Johnston and Kirk Seib, two great grandchildren Sydney and Jacob Johnston, a daughter-in-law, Joanne Maki, three sisters-in-law Rita Miodus, Evelyn Maki and Carol Grieshaber as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Miodus, her husband, William Maki, two brothers, Leonard and Walter Miodus and her son, John Maki.
There will be a funeral service to celebrate her life at 11am on Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shoop’s Cemetery, Lower Paxton Township.
Visitation will be from 10:30am until 11am on Saturday in the funeral home.
