Pearl Newstadt Lock Pearl Newstadt Lock, 83, of Harrisburg passed away, Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
She was born in Waynesboro, PA to the late Abram and Sylvia (Colon) Lock.
Pearl was a kindergarten teacher at the Yeshiva Academy of Harrisburg, and the Harrisburg Academy, and an elementary teacher at Hamilton Elementary School.
Pearl graduated from Waynesboro (PA) High School in 1945, West Chester State Teachers College with Honors in 1948, and attended University of Delaware for graduate work in education.
Pearl was a member of the Kesher Israel and Chisuk Emuna Congregations, Chisuk Emuna sisterhood, and was formerly a member of Temple Beth El, where she was a Sisterhood board member and choir member. Pearl was a member of the Jewish Community Center and the JCC senior citizens, and was also a past President of the Yeshiva PTA, and a chapter level Hadassah member.
Surviving are Pearl's husband Jack Lock of Harrisburg, 2 sons: Howard Newstadt of Harrisburg, Allan Newstadt and his wife Mary Karen of Palmyra, 2 granddaughters: Jessica Schwab and her husband Jeff of Lorton, VA, and Elizabeth Newstadt of Palmyra, and a great grandson Caleb Schwab. Also surviving are Jack's children Judy Gold, Mitzi Geffen, Dennis Lock, and Jeremy Lock, their children and grandchildren all living in Israel, and Pearl's many nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
Pearl was predeceased by her late husband Benjamin Newstadt, her brothers Aaron Lock, Donald Lock, and Isadore Lock, and her sisters, Hannah Weinberger and Ida Lock.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, July 8, 2010 in the Chisuk Emuna Cemetery Chapel with Rabbi Ron Muroff and Rabbi Akiva Males officiating. Burial will be in Chisuk Emuna Cemetery.
Shiva will be observe at 3019 Green St. Harrisburg, PA, morning and evening Minyan will observed at Kesher Israel Congregation.
