Florence Schalet Kaplan
Florence Schalet Kaplan, 86, of 4004 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA, passed away July 22, 2010.
She was born in New York City on May 11, 1924 to the late Isaac Benjamin and Clara Weintraub Schalet.
She was the widow of the late Leonard H. Kaplan and sister of the late Dr. Abraham Schalet.
Florence is survived by 3 daughters, Phyllis (Henry) Perkin of Allentown, Carol (Warren) Vanaver of Indianapolis, Ilene (Steven) Sauertieg of Harrisburg; and 5 grandchildren, Lauren Kim (Jeffrey) and Edward Perkin (Ke), Sara Vanaver, Rebecca and Clayton Sauertieg.
She was a registered nurse, a graduate of Beth Israel Medical Center, worked part-time in the O.B. Department of Polyclinic Hospital for 18 years.
She was a member of Kesher Israel Synagogue and its sisterhood, member of the presidium 1980-1981, member of the Chevra Kadisha and a life member of the Guild of the Jewish Home. Shiva will be observed at the Jewish Home Residence on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 7 -9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Sunday, July 25th at the Kesher Israel Cemetery Chapel with Rabbi Akiva Males officiating. Burial will be in the Kesher Israel Cemetery.
