Alvin D. Hoover
Alvin D. Hoover, 84, of Penbrook, passed away Wednesday at the Harrisburg Hospital. He was a retired truck driver and a WWII Navy veteran. Alvin was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Penbrook, life member and past Commander VFW Post# 1718, member of the American Legion Post# 730, Progress Fire Company, Perseverance Lodge #21 F&A.M., Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Forest #43 and the Teamsters Local #766. Surviving are his three sons, David E. Hoover of Pillow, Gary L. Hoover of Lower Paxton Twp., Steven L. Hoover and his wife Flory May of Wellsboro; one sister, Margaret Marsh of West Hanover Twp.; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 18th at 12 pm at the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, 3125 Walnut Street, Harrisburg. Rev. Pamela Carnes will be officiating. There will be a viewing from 10 am until 11:50 am and a Masonic service beginning at 11:50 am. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors be provided by the Dauphin County Honor Guard. Memorial donations can be made to his church, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2730 Booser Avenue, Harrisburg, 17103 or the Humane Society of Greater Harrisburg, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, 17111.
